Budithi Brassware

Our fabulous handcrafted rooms are an ode to the traditional crafts of Andhra Pradesh. This is the first time that Tholu Bommalata (leather shadow puppetry), Budithi brass work, Kalamkari pen art and Etikoppaka toys have been used together to create an evolved aesthetic expression that is befitting of a setting in which our guests can be comfortably and leisurely introduced to these fascinating crafts. Since each artifact snugly tells a story of beauty, dignity, form, style and aesthetics, the hotel weaves a quaint tale of Andhra’s history.

Budithi Brassware

A popular village in Central Srikakulam district, Budithi village located in Andhra Pradesh is known for creating splendid brassware. This fabulous craft is easy to recognize thanks to its distinctive style. Locally available natural resources are used to produce a tell-tale black coating. The beauty of this is, unlike modern industrial chemical-based manufacture, the special black powder used for the coating is non-toxic. Another distinct feature about them is the geometric patterns and straight lines used to adorn the pieces.

Elements in the Budithi Brassware Room

The Andhra Art & Craft Hotel is a celebration of art, style and design. Every space is a canvas for artistic expression and the individually designed rooms and suites feature plush furnishings. The headboard in the Brass rooms draws inspiration from sculptures of women adorned with jewellery depicted in temples. Multiple forms of art & sculpture have been used to create impact; the base of the headboard design is reminiscent of the rawness of temple stones. The bench is the highlight with inspiration being the traditional “Uyyala” (swing) which was a part of most homes.

Even the washrooms and room number plates have a touch inspired by the art form
